Setting up S.M.A.R.T. Marketing Goals
S: Specific
M: Measurable
A: Attainable
R: Relevant
T: Time-Bound
Specific goals are written out and clear. They are concise and particular. Obtainable goals are well discussed, fine-tuned and set in motion with a clear, desired outcome.
Measurable goals are quantifiable and data-driven. They involve identifying numbers at a starting point just as importantly as at an ending point, as well as continuous tracking and analyzing throughout.
Attainable goals are realistic. Successfully reaching an end goal requires considering your existing resources, skills, and available time. Having an open-ended marketing goal with just the idea of “do as much as you can,” will most likely lead to completion confusion, fatigue and an overall lack of success.
Relevant goals pertain to your specific business, product and/or service. They are applicable and are based on the actual skills, products, etc. you have to offer. Relevant goals are goals that are able to be achieved.
Time-bound goals have specific deadlines for specific accomplishments. They are not indeterminate. Achieved goals require realistic time constraints and defined target dates.
