Quicker Starts to Sales

The new recreational cannabis markets are seeing faster turnarounds between medical and recreational use and a speedier launch of recreational markets. This is great news for industry advocates in recently transitioned states such as Arizona, Montana and New Jersey.

In states with long turnaround times between medical to full adult use, like California with twenty years between the two, existing medical dispensaries are given plenty of time to dominate the market before the conversion. A conversion which inevitably will bring about a decline in sales for medical dispensaries as many new recreational companies flood the market.

Despite MMJ operators still having first priority at recreational licenses, upcoming advocates are given more of a chance to get their product name out there in states with faster turnarounds. In Massachusetts only four years passed between the movement from medical to recreational use and the market hadn’t already been dominated by the medical dispensary companies, thus giving new companies a better opportunity at succeeding.
